Write a proper payment receipt in a minute: who paid you, how much, what it was for and how it was paid. Add your logo and signature, then download it as a PDF or print it.

Receipts matter most when there is no other record of the payment. If a customer pays you in cash, a receipt is the only proof for both of you. Receipts are also useful for deposits and advance payments, for rent (see the Rent Receipt Generator), for school or club fees, and whenever someone needs to claim the cost back from an employer or include it in their tax records.
Example: a tutor receives 120 in cash for 4 lessons in October.
Receipt R-0015, dated 31 Oct, received from the student's parent, "Maths lessons, October (4 × 30)", paid by Cash, total 120, signed by the tutor.
Always keep your own copy of every receipt you give. Download the PDF and save it in a folder per month, and note the payment in your cashbook. That way your income records are complete when it is time to do your accounts.
An invoice asks for payment before it is made. A receipt confirms that a payment was received. You usually send the receipt after the money has arrived, for example when a customer pays an invoice or pays in cash.

A receipt is a record that a payment was made. What it must contain depends on your country and on whether you are registered for tax. For tax receipts, check the local rules or ask an accountant.
No. The form is saved only in your browser. When you download a PDF, the receipt is sent once to our server to be turned into a file and is not kept.
A calculator gives you one answer. A cashbook shows you the whole picture: write down cash in and cash out, see where the money goes in charts and on a calendar, and share a ledger with your family, team or friends.
This takes a few seconds.
